"Alex Daniels of the Daniels Group managed our recent substantial home renovation in Cambridge. We are delighted with the results and cannot imagine the project would have been such a success without him The work required was extensive: a 'back to the brick' complete internal refurbishment, loft conversion and adding new single and double storey extensions to a 100 year old building of local interest in a conservation area. Alex was able to bring in an excellent team fully tailored to the project, including an architect who specialises in historic buildings and whose interests were perfectly suited to our needs. The design stages went well with initial outline ideas perfectly capturing our brief, planning permission being successfully secured and then extensive collaboration during the detailed design stages ensuring possible issues (and opportunities) were considered in advance and factored into the final build plan. Whenever we needed specialist input Alex was able to conjure the right person at the right time, and he clearly had a great trusted relationship with the various suppliers including a full consultant team and specialist contractors (as demonstrated by the ease with which we were able to complete the 'snagging' at the end of the project). As well as being great at their work, the Daniels Group team were lovely people who were very considerate of our neighbours and did everything they could to minimise disruption on the street which was remarked upon positively by many of our neighbours. Alex led all aspects of the project from early design (including obtaining planning permission and building control approvals) through the various stages of on-site works on the house and finishing up with managing the landscaping. He has great breadth of knowledge, very high standards and a key eye for detail meaning we could be confident in the quality of both the design and the execution. Alongside installing all new mains services to the property The Daniels Group completed all interior works including bespoke joinery, custom flooring and a bespoke 3 storey staircase (with French polishing to match to the main floors). Alex was brilliant to collaborate with: guiding us in our decisions (including making sensible suggestions about opportunities for future proofing, such as the cabling for EV chargers) and finding ways to facilitate our preferences where we had them. As a result we are not only happy with the end result but also hugely enjoyed the process; something that many people warned us would be impossible! "Alex Daniels and The Daniels Group managed the major refurbishment of our home in Cambridge, including the addition of a large extension. Having lived in our house for 30 years, we knew we had to find the right team and looked hard for some time. The task was complex because it required the integration of traditional and modern styles with one flowing naturally into the other. Alex’s relationship with the architect and design team was such that they married their respective skills and perspectives and worked seamlessly together. At the outset, Alex recommended a local architect who proved a perfect fit. On approval of the design, The Daniels Group managed the building regulations process, including consulting with the neighbouring doctors surgery. He established and coordinated a construction team that was second to none to undertake the project. Over the course, Alex recommended the best materials and suppliers such as glazing and metal roofing specialists, a bespoke staircase manufacturer, interiors, lighting and an underfloor heating system. He recommended a company to install a state of the art security, communications / AV and entertainment system. Alex and his team oversaw every detail and was clearly respected by everyone who worked on the project because of his adherence to and appreciation of the highest standards of workmanship. We experienced no delays or disappointments. Alex has that rare combination of an extraordinary attention to detail while holding the larger vision in mind. As a result, he helped us to be bold and take decisions that ultimately delivered far more than we could have imagined. We had regular meetings with him and the architect to discuss progress, solutions to anything arising and to choose materials. All these meetings were followed up with careful minutes giving us a record and reference. As the project came to a close, Alex engaged excellent cleaners, carpet layers, curtain hangers etc. The Daniels Group ensured that the removers bringing back our furniture protected all floors and walls. Our house was returned in the best possible state and he provided detailed files on every aspect of the project as a record for maintenance etc. Over the year since, we have only appreciated more the excellence Alex and The Daniels Group brought to the task. Something that we were warned by friends would be stressful was in fact hugely creative and enjoyable. We can’t recommend The Daniels Group too highly!"
